I wanted to use this blog as a way to put down some design thoughts. It is essentially a party of adventurers making their way through a forest to an end boss.

I started designing a ccg because of a job posting I saw. I basically saw the posting for a game design job and wanted to see if I would actually like doing that.

I went with an idea and started by making cards and then writing up some rules. I liked the direction I took it and I think I have a solid idea. I know that my numbers are a bit off on the cards and I will have to create a larger card set if it gets finished.

The key was when I realized that the game would probably not work as well as a ccg and would do better as a co-op card or deck building type game. I had too many parts that would require a set of base cards, such as a deck of enemies and some terrain. I saw that the fun of the game should be in the missions and not necessarily in the value of the deck you were playing.

One of the biggest issues as well was the monster deck. I didn't see the value to the player in changing up this deck. If you got a rare monster, would you be satisfied? Would you put a challenging monster in the minion deck? I found that I would prefer to start with a specific set of monster cards and work more into further missions.

Just some random thoughts on my first detailed sit down and design of a game. I really enjoyed the exercise and I figured out my strengths and weaknesses in the process. I love the process and think I will continue with it as a hobby. Cheers
